Thai Buddha Amulet Phra Phuttha Chinnarat

Wat Saranat Thammaram houses a main Buddha image imitated from the famous Phra Phuttha Chinnarat in Phitsanulok province. Four major pagodas surround the Ubosot. They include Phra Pathom Chedi, Phrathat Phanom, replica of Bodh Gaya, and Phrathat Chaiya.  Mu Ko Man , Mu Ko Man comprises three islands: Man Nai, Man Klang, and Man Nok.  Ko Man Nai ,This island is the location of the turtle conservation station initiated by Her Majesty the Queen. The project conserves the breeding of hawksbill and olive turtles.

Buddhist sacred places may be grouped in various categories: places directly connected with the life of the Buddha; places where relics of the Buddha are kept; and places with highly venerated Buddha images. The temple of Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat in Phitsamulok, Thailand is in the third category. Its stunningly beautiful image of Buddha is venerated in Thailand and throughout Southeast Asia. Locals often shorten the long name of the temple, simply calling it Wat Phra Si or Wat Yai. The bronze image of the seated Buddha is a superb example of late Sukhothai sculpture and was cast during the reign of King Li Thai in 1357. While a bustling, noisy city has grown up around the temple and streams of pilgrims and tourists constantly pass through the shrine, there is none-the-less a palpable feeling of serenity that surrounds the Buddha statue.

Mostly Thai People are great believers of Buddha. The most of Thai people are the believer of the ghosts also. So they tried a great deal to avoid these certain type of scenarios by wearing these amulets.

Most of Thai Buddha amulets are made of clay or metals such as bronze or copper. They usualy display a seated Buddha on the front side though other designs can sometimes be found. The backs can have a variety of images and designs, many show a local Priest or Monk, some show the temple or shrine and others show astrological charts. All show the beautiful Thai letters.

Like Christian crosses and Chinese Buddha amulets, Thai Buddha amulets can be made of metal or precious stones. Yet a majority of them today are still a combination of clay and incense ash. They are then molded into a Buddha statue (some are not) and put in a box. Sometimes, pollen, herbs, metal bars (with Scripture carved on), an eyebrow hair from a holy monk and a drop of his blood may also be contained inside. It's not finished and ready to give out until it's blessed by a renowned monk.

There have been a lot of famous monks over the past 100 or 200 years. These famous monks by themselves had been teachers (acharns) to other monks in their monastries and some of his followers/scholars brought it later the same way to become a teacher for other monks. Through this way, knowledge and ability passed through generations. Most of these monks have made amulets and have blessed them like they have learned it from their teacher. Very often it is seen from the style of the blessed amulet (because it is slightly different) that it might not be from the acharn-monk who has lived a long time ago, but one of his former scholars.
